‘Mister Herschell’ is a half hour documentary about the life and work of Charles Herschell, a man whose drive and ambition helped to establish Australia’s documentary and film industry in the early 20th century.
It makes use of re-enactments, archival and interview footage and is told by the grandchildren and ex employees of Charles Herschell.
Initial research began in October 2015, with filmed interviews throughout Australia commencing in early 2016.
‘Mister Herschell’ premiered at the 2018 St Kilda Film Festival, where it was nominated for best documentary film. It also won the ACS best cinematography in a Student Film Award.
